It’s time for you to meet another great designer, a guest illustrator on our site Tshirt-Factory.com, where artists contribute with their artwork, to offer our visitors the best, many original t-shirt prints out there.
This week you will meet Anthony Aves, graphic designer specializing in logo, web, banner and packaging designs. He works with both digital and conventional tools and most of the projects include logo designs, banners illustations and tshirt designs. As usual, here is a little insight into his style and method towards t-shirt designing:
OANA: Please tell us much more about your art and design background and what made you become a designer?
ANTHONY: I am Anthony Aves a.k.a. Angrymonk. I am a fine Arts graduate and currently working as a graphic designer in a creative company here in the Philippines. In addition to this I am an illustrator, both digital and traditional. I have clients here and abroad, many of the projects includes logo designs, banners illustations/tshirt designs. I have already won couple of tee t-shirt designs in design by Humans and 9Fountains, a Singapore based company. I am the official designer of a Switzerland based tshirt company called Restless.
Coal my heartColorful FlavorOANA: how or when did you start illustrating on a professional level?
ANTHONY: I started illustrating professionally way back 2006 but i’ts just this past couple of years that I started to join contests online which improved a lot of my illustration skills.
OANA: Where does your inspiration come from?
ANTHONY: Artists. Bansky, Salvador Dali, Magritte etc. My inspirations mostly came from these political and surreal artists.
Lift that mustacheOANA: how would you describe your style?
ANTHONY: I got a diverse style but probably the most dominating would be a combination of pop, humor and surrealism.
OANA: What tools you use? Do you go 100% digital or is there paper involved?
ANTHONY: many of the time my studies/sketches would be on paper, after the entire concept is done that’s the time that I go digital using Wacom tablet. I used Photoshop and Illustrator or a combination of it for my software.
Dande-lionShroom TrooperOANA: Is there anything that you specifically avoid using in your illustrations?
ANTHONY: using someone else’s work and trace it, that’s a big NO for me.
OANA: What was the hardest job you have ever worked on?
ANTHONY: I got a couple of projects before in which the instructions were a bit confusing and turned out that I had to go back from scratch.
OANA: Can you name some of your favorite designs and why?(personal or from other designers)
ANTHONY: My artwork “Control” is a very essential piece of mine, a combination of political and surrealism style that won design By Humans’ t-shirt of the Day. From the other designers artworks would be God save The Villain and Rennaisance Rocks by Enkel Dika.

ANTHONY: Nicebleed and Enkel Dika a.k.a. Buko
OANA: any words of guidance for anybody just starting out as an illustrator/graphic designer?
ANTHONY: just keep on doing what you love to do.
